During my senior high school year at Immaculata La Salle in Miami, Florida, I needed to turn in an Independent leadership project to the NHS (National Honor Society). By the time I was given this assignment, I had learned how to knit hats. I realized that my new skill could be utilized to make caps for cancer patients, thus Knit Love Into It began.
After turning in my NHS requirement, I realized Knit Love Into It was more than just a high school project. I have learned the physical, emotional and psychological challenges cancer patients endure. I discovered cancer is in everyone’s concern; it’s an issue that belongs to all. Through the many dedicated volunteers and supporters, I witnessed the advocacy people have in helping one another. During the journey, I was inspired by Halos of Hope, an organization from Chicago who kindly donated 30 of their hats to our community. It has been a revealing experience to deliver everyone who contributed their love and kindness to the patients through the hats.
In April 11, 2011, Knit Love Into It became a registered Florida non-profit organization who solely mission is to provide cancer and other medical patients, including children, comfort through knitted/crochet craft. These crafts aid the patients in many favorable ways, specially by receiving the community love and support.
Let’s Knit Love Into It,
