On Feb. 5, the 46st edition of the annual Super Bowl took place in Indianapolis. This annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL) is one of the biggest sports events in the world. A tradition that makes the #SuperBowl experience even better is the abundance of snacks consumed by viewers throughout the game. There is no denying that snacks are important, and sometimes preparing them can even turn into some kind of art form. This #SuperBowl Snack Stadium is a great example. It was shared on Twitter by popular singer Katy Perry (@KatyPerry, over 14 million followers).
2. Heart Truth
The #HeartTruth Campaign by @DietCokeUS (200.000+ followers), addresses a malady that many problem face: heart trouble. This infographic, specifically designed for women, provides five tips for women to reduce their chances of developing heart disease.
3. Best SpongeBob Quotes
As you may remember from previous posts, animated TV series are a popular subjects for photos on Twitter. Sometimes all kinds of these TV shows are combined into one hashtag, sometimes they get one of their own. Last week was SpongeBob’s week of fame, as the #BestSpongeBobQuotes subject was trending for a couple of days.
4. I Get That a Lot
#IGetThatALot is a subject used to share experiences which happen often and that a lot of people probably recognize. This week’s most-retweeted is this drawing uploaded by @HarryPotterings (70.000+ followers), whose tweet read: “You are like a walking Harry Potter encyclopaedia. #igetThatAlot."
5. Two Feet of Snow
According to @GunnerSteve (1000+ followers), these feet made of snow were created in Medway, UK. Quite a lot of snow fell across the globe in the last week, which made for an interesting collection of #snow pictures (in many different languages) on Twitter.
6. Photography
@DocMarion (22.000+ followers, co-author of http://www.shiftyourlife.com/) refers to this week’s most popular#photography picture as a “skypunch”. It resembles a "fallstreak hole," which is, according to Wikipedia, a “large circular gap that can appear incirrocumulus or altocumulus clouds.”
7. Things You See On Facebook
This image by @PaulEtienne (30.000+ followers) proves that cats can make anything funnier. It was posted along with the #ThingsYouSeeOnFacebook tag, which is used to share a collection of all kinds of Facebook parodies. (#thingsyouseeonfacebook)
8. Food
If this title read "shoe," maybe you would have interpreted this picture differently at first sight. As with the "snack Super Bowl stadium," food was used to build something in this picture. Is #food art becoming a trend?This picture was posted by @schuhshoes (www.schuh.co.uk, 7000+ followers).
9. Lady Gaga Ball
Lady Gaga (@LadyGaga, over 19 million followers) described this image as “THE BORN THIS WAY BALL 2012-2013.” Is this the design for the stage? Shortly afterward she posted this picture, sent in by a fan. Apparently there are big plans for this gig (or tour?).
10. Manchester United Football Club
MUFC (Manchester United Football Club) played a 3-3 tie with Chelsea in last sunday’s Premier League match. This photo displays goal keeper David de Gea (@D_DeGea, 500.000+ followers)’s save, that prevented Juan Mata from scoring another goal for Chelsea in the added minutes.
What a difference a week makes! This week’s batch of top 10 Twitter pics were terrific, thanks to an immensely popular Super Bowl game, snowstorms all over the northern hemisphere, Lady Gaga and a lot more.
