The reason the Natives were told their religion was false as the many different variations depending on specific tribes.
Another Point of fact, when Columbus went back to Italy to make
his report he told Pope Alexander:
The local Natives were a very Spiritual people.
They were at one with all of nature and a very giving people.
To which the Pope replied,
if they are not Catholic, and will not convert, then kill them.
Hence beginning the genocide against the Native Peoples.
