It always amazes me how many organisations manage to thrive while ignoring the fundamental basics of both business and human nature. Digital-based companies tend to be the worst, as our perception of the start-up feel masks the truth of chaos.
Day 1 of my second week in an organisation is usually when I hit them with my first presentation. It’s 10 really basic ideas, each associated with a picture, on how even the most basic day to day decisions can be improved.
The major difference between what I do, and a large number of articles I see on the web, is that these are not hard and fast “rules”; but view simply ideas to kick-start conversations.
None of these ideas come with a “dumbed down” explanation or blue-print of how to apply changes to your organisation; because not one of these should appear to be anything but common sense:
- If you don’t plan for issuesyou’ll end up spinning around forever
Build a bridge and get over it
Just because you can build it,
doesn’t mean you should
Sometimes it’s knowing who to call
