The Deadline Nears
April 30 is the last day to apply for the Teaching Tolerance Award for Excellence in Culturally Responsive Teaching. This award honors five educators who excel in meeting the needs of students from diverse backgrounds. Winners receive $1,000 each and a trip to Washington, D.C for the award event.

We Must Stop Criminalizing Students
When educators turn to law enforcement instead of mediation, says blogger Carrie Craven, they fail in their duty to keep students out of the school-to-prison pipeline.

Bring Your Class to the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates
Educators and students can view the proceedings live and make use of The Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights' Speak Truth to Power Curriculum. Additional resources like video and a full schedule of the summit are also available.

What Do Kids Know about Gay Men and Lesbians?
It turns out—a lot. Welcoming Schools' professional development film, What Do You Know? Six to Twelve Year-Olds Talk about Gays and Lesbians, features students from Massachusetts and Alabama talking about how gay men and lesbians are perceived by their peers and teachers. Order the DVD and facilitation guide for $20 here.
